Our Story
Where it all Began
We met at Stanford Business School in Operations and Marketing classes in spring 2001 – Julian was the gentle, funny, incisive Brit, and Sabrina was the charismatic and kind “poet” with a non-profit arts background.
Thanks to our mutual (and hilariously wry) British friend, Andrew, we struck up a conversation after class. Next thing we knew, we were hiking Waimea Canyon on a spring break trip to Kauai (because, B-school), and Julian was shouting “she’s a diva!” at karaoke. We continued dating through business school and started a life together in San Francisco after graduation.
We officially tied the knot on September 26, 2005 in Big Sur, California, after a blunder-filled but romantic New Year’s Eve / Julian’s Birthday 2004 proposal at Hampton Court outside of London, England (third time’s a charm!). Julian’s grammar school mates descended on the place the day after to ring in the new year and new plans.
As recent graduates, we didn’t have the cash or confidence to host a big wedding, so we kept the ceremony intimate, with just a handful of witnesses. A highlight was Julian’s friend Dom arriving just in time for the ceremony and changing in the bushes before whipping out a virtuosic rendition of Bach on the cello. We are honored that Dom intends to reprise his role – though hopefully not the jumping out of the bushes part.
Our Friends, Family and Community
As a young couple, we loved to work and travel – with Julian joining Capital Group after graduation, and Sabrina starting a creative studio, Hello!Lucky, with her sister Eunice. We both also longed for a deeper purpose and to be of service.
When we found out we were pregnant with twins in 2009, we were ecstatic – and terrified. Our lives were forever transformed in the best possible way with the arrival of Alex and James in 2010, and, in 2012, William.
Together, they held a mirror up to us and inspired us to heal, learn, grow, and lead so as to be the best possible role models for them.
Into this picture, we invited a circle of kind, loving, generous, and wise people – you, our cherished friends, family, colleagues, and mentors. Our vow renewal thus a celebration not just of our marriage, but of each of you.
Our Gratitude
We are tremendously grateful for the love and support that surrounds us and has been the constant source of strength and inspiration over the past 20 years.
Each of you is a role model and a deeply valued member of our community. We are so grateful for each of you, and thank you for joining us in this celebration.
We look forward to seeing you on September 27th!

You Are Our Gift
Thank you so much for celebrating with us. Your loving presence was the greatest gift we could ever receive!
Should you wish to give more, the following two charities are close to our hearts, and are ones in which our family is deeply involved:
PROJECT HORSESHOE FARM
A community health non-profit in rural Alabama that provides loving support to the entire community, especially focused on women, children, and those who are living with illness and mental illness.
THE MOSAIC PROJECT
A youth non-profit that brings together youth from intentionally diverse backgrounds from across the Bay Area to celebrate differences, learn communication and conflict resolution skills, and create loving, joyful, community in nature with music, experiential learning, and fun.
